New Trips 2010
Sea Kayaking in Croatia

Perhaps Europe’s best sea kayaking is found among the nearly 1200 islands strung out along this sublime Croatian coast. It’s a two week trip because there is so much to see, so many villages to explore and wildlife to encounter. From historic Trogir, and ancient Split, with its Palace of Diocletian, we’ll paddle, cruise and even bike our way south, living aboard a Croatian motorized sailing yacht and feasting on all the local delicacies. We’ll paddle in the morning before Adriatic winds kick up and lunch aboard the yacht or in a local café. After a swim or some snorkeling in the warm, crystal clear ocean, we sail on to the next lonely cove or historic village.
Along our leisurely route we’ll explore Korcula, the medieval city and home of Marco Polo, and Hvar, the island of lavender and rosemary where civilization thrived 5000 years ago. With only 66 of its 1200 islands inhabited, you will commune with nature as well as with history and culture. It’s possible to spot the very rare monk seal as well as the nesting Eleonora’s falcon and a variety of sea birds. This voyage is the perfect balance of healthy exercise, great local cuisine and cultural discovery.
